Douglas W. Nicoll is a Co-Founder of the Company

Mr. Nicoll (a Colorado Springs native) has built his career out of addressing customer needs through pro-active management, sales, marketing approaches, and customer service.  His knowledge of the marketplace makes him well suited to co-launch this enterprise.

  • Previous co-ownership and subsequent sale of a successful waste and recycling company.  Acquired the company in late 2007 with revenues of approximately $2 million and EBIT of less than 1%. Sold the company in 2011 with revenues in excess of $6 million and an EBIT of 27.5%. The company employed 37 employees and disposed of over 4,000 tons of waste per month.
  • Previous ownership and subsequent sale of a successful service-related company. Acquired the company in 2014 with annual sales of $900,000 and EBIT of 17%.  Sold the company in 2021 with annual sales of $1.7 million and earnings of over 28%.
  • Professional waste and recycling experience since 1995 with education directly related to Company’s needs with the study of Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing.
  • Colorado Director of Sales and Marketing for a National Environmental Company.  Duties included the entire management of all sales, customer service, and marketing efforts throughout the state while concentrating on improving margin via new sales and price increases, reducing customer churn, and completing acquisitions. Effectively drove annual internal revenue growth rate above 7% on revenues in excess $125 million.  He managed a staff of 21 Sales Representatives and 52 Customer Service Representatives throughout 31 operating sites.
  • Managing Account Executive for a local hauler where he was responsible for all new revenue and management of existing clientele.  In his first year, he managed an active revenue base of over $3 million in commercial services and grew the residential customer base by 15% through proactive direct and telemarketing business approaches. He was able to effectively reduce customer churn to 4% from 8%.
  • Division Sales and Customer Service Manager for a national company where he was responsible for managing all aspects of the sales and customer service departments in a $40 million division with five districts.  He managed a team of eight Sales Representatives and 16 Customer Service Representatives.  He led the state in increasing commercial closing ratios to over 80% by developing a lead referral program and system that transmitted leads electronically in “real time” from the Customer Service Center to the Inside Sales Department.  This program was later adopted by the corporation and is still in practice today. 

James H. Smith is a Co-Founder of the Company.  Mr. Smith’s experience and education make him well suited to co-launch this enterprise.  Some accomplishments include:

  • Professional waste and recycling experience since 1986.

  • Education directly related to Company needs with a B.S. in Business Administration majoring in Finance and Accounting.

  • Previous co-ownership and subsequent sale of a successful waste and recycling company.  Acquired the company in late 2007 with revenues of approximately $2 million and EBIT of less than 1%.   • Colorado Market Area VP and General Manager for Waste Management of Colorado, Inc.  Jim’s responsibilities included the financial performance and overall business management of a network of operating districts throughout the entire state of Colorado with annual revenues of $125 million.  The Market Area consisted 19 hauling companies, 4 landfills, 3 transfer stations, and 5 recycling plants serving 20 markets.  Involved in cultivating, negotiating and closing multiple acquisitions in excess of $35 million in annual revenues to compliment the existing operations. Jim provided innovative and aggressive leadership with the Market Area through development of all departments.

  • Director of Operations Improvement for Waste Management Corporate.  He was responsible for the implementation of operational opportunities to improve efficiencies and profitability of the commercial, residential and industrial lines of business for 13 states across the Midwestern Group.  Revenues in excess of $3 billion.

  • Served as District Manager for Advanced Disposal Services and was responsible for the states of Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri and Western Wisconsin. The District exceeded $300M revenue with approximately 900 employees, 24 Collection operations, 12 Transfer Stations, 5 Landfills and 4 MRFs. Most recent responsibility is the State of Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. Dramatic, positive improvement of all cultures and results – Safety, Service, Sales, Maintenance, Productivity and Profitability.   

Joe Gonzales is the Site Manager of the Company.

He is an Ohio native and has been a Colorado resident since 1986. He is also an Army Veteran who was last stationed at Ft. Carson.

Joe has been working in the refuse and recycling industry in the Pikes Peak area since 1987. Over the years, he has held management roles with several national and local companies in the region. He began his career as a helper riding on the back of a residential truck, gaining direct, hands-on experience in the field.

In 1991, Joe moved into a supervisory role, taking on additional responsibilities in overseeing operations and teams. He later advanced into higher levels of management, including managing one of the largest national companies in the area.
